Join me in this wonderful and unique photo expedition to the country that holds the highest number of species in the world!!!

Day 1 - Our trip starts in Cali, Colombia where our driver will pick you up at the Inernational airport. From there we venture to some of the best bird photography areas around Cali.

Day 2-4 - Three full days around Cali. This area is the home of many endemic species of Colombia. We will target many birds including the wonderful Multi-colored Tanager and target hummingbirds doing both multi-flash and natural light setups. Many tanager species can be found here and we will take advantage of the active feeders to capture them.

Day 5 - Today we move to Manizales. A whole new set of species to photograph here. Hummingbirds, Tanagers, Parrots, Tucanets and many other species will be photographers here. All of our photography is conducted from decks were birds come to us. No hiking, no shooting in bad light!!!! Perfect light, perfect perches, and perfect backgrounds!!!!

Day 6 - El Bosque in the Nevado del Ruiz Area - we visit the Nevado del Ruiz Area and go to a farm that has been converted to a bird photographer’s paradise. Here we will target many species including 2 species of Antpittas, Mountain Toucans and Tanagers, and many species of hummingbirds including the magnificent Swordbill Hummingbird. We will spend the entire day at El Bosque.

Day 7-8 - Manizales Area - we will visit two different reserves in the area. Both of them are setup for bird photography. Excellent images come out of these two reserves. We will target new species of Antpittas (up to 5 new ones) and many tanagers, trogons, toucanets and mountain toucans. More natural light hummingbird sessions at these locations capturing stunning hummers like the Collared Inca and the Long tailed Sylph.

Day 9 - Today we start making our way to the wonderful city of Jardin. A fabulous mountain country side town with a rich history. Here we will target one of the main birds for the trip, the wonderful Andean Cock of the Rock. We arrive at noon and we will have our first session at the Cock of the Rock garden this afternoon.

Day 10 - Jardin - in the morning we will visit a reserve where we will target new species of tanagers and few new species. Inca Jays, Mot Mots, Red Bellied Grackles are some of the species we will target. In the afternoon we return to the Cock of the Rock garden for a second session with the Cocks.

Day 11 - We will visit one last reserve in the Jardin area and fill our cards with many species of tanagers, mot mots and other birds. After lunch we depart and start making our way to the city of Medellin. Once in Medellin we will check into our airport hotel and have our farewell dinner at at selected restaurant.

Day 12 - After breakfast our transport will take you to the international airport for your flight home. End of our services.

    For single supplement add $690.00

  • Physical Level - Easy to Moderate

    • This tour has a level of moderate due to high elevation at a few locations. In the Manizales area, one location is at 13,000 feet above sea level. Rest of the trip averages 6000-8000 feet above sea level.

 

INCLUDES:

- Lodging during our tour.
- All meals as specified.
- Airport Transfers on first and last day.
- Photographic instruction and guidance by multiple photo leaders.
- Local Bilingual Guides.
- Multi flash setups for hummingbirds.
- Private transportation through out the tour.
- All applicable taxes.

DOES NOT INCLUDE::
- Airfare to and from Colombia..
- Dinner the first night.
- Alcoholic Beverages.
- Personal items (souvenirs, batteries, etc).
- Extra services at Hotels (laundry service, etc.)
- Gratuities for local guides, porters, wait staff and drivers.   

We are limiting the number of photographers to 8 (for a 4:1 participant to instructor ratio) so you can get our full attention and be very comfortable at all shooting locations and during transport with your photo gear.

A $2000 deposit is required at the time of enrollment with full payment due by July 1, 2026.

Deposits & Cancellation Policy:

  • A $2000 deposit is required at the time of enrollment with full payment due by July 1, 2026.

  • Deposits and tour/workshop fees are non-refundable.

  • If the photo workshop is full and someone from the waiting list can take your spot, your tuition is fully refundable minus a 15% cancellation fee.

  • We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons.

  • Should cancellation be required due to severe weather, an alternate date will be scheduled at no additional charges.

  • No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after the photo workshop begins.

  • We are not responsible for any fees associated with non-refundable air travel, we highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
