Deep within Uganda’s lush forests, mountain gorillas move quietly through the vegetation, chimpanzees call through the canopy, and some of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife awaits. This exclusive photo adventure takes you into the heart of Uganda for intimate encounters with two of our closest wild relatives: endangered mountain gorillas and wild chimpanzees.
Designed specifically for wildlife photographers, this is much more than a safari. It is an immersive, expert-led photographic experience built around giving you the time, access, instruction, and opportunities needed to create exceptional images.
THE EXPERIENCE
Our adventure includes three mountain gorilla treks in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and four chimpanzee treks in Kibale National Park, giving us multiple opportunities to photograph these incredible primates.
Multiple treks are one of the most important features of this expedition. Every encounter is different. Light changes, animals behave differently, and new photographic opportunities appear each time we enter the forest.
Rather than relying on a single encounter, we return again and again—allowing you to slow down, observe behavior, experiment creatively, and build a much stronger and more diverse portfolio of images.
EXPERT-LED PHOTOGRAPHY
This expedition is personally led by professional wildlife photographer Hector Astorga, with photographic instruction available throughout the journey.
From working in challenging rainforest light to choosing shutter speeds, managing high ISO, anticipating behavior, finding clean compositions, and making the most of fleeting moments, you’ll receive practical guidance in the field when it matters most.
Whether you are an experienced photographer or simply passionate about improving your wildlife photography, the goal is the same: to help you come home with memorable experiences and images you are proud of.

We intentionally keep this expedition small.
A limited group means a more personal experience, better access to photographic instruction, greater flexibility in the field, and less competition for the best shooting positions.
We also take care of the logistics so you can concentrate on photography and the experience itself. Comfortable accommodations, local expertise, transportation, meals, permits, and an in-country flight to Bwindi are incorporated into the adventure.

*NOTE* - Price is based on current treking permit prices. If Uganda Wildlife Authority raises permit prices before start of tour, we will have to increase price to compensate for permit price change.

5 SPOTS AVAILABLEPhysical Level - Moderate to Difficult
Treks can be an easy 1-2 hour hike or a difficult 4-5 hour hike, depending on location of chimpanzeez/gorillas. Participants must be in good physical condition able to hike in for long durations in steep terrain. We will be hiking at elevations around 6500 feet above sea level.
Includes:
- All transportation within Uganda.
- Accomodations at the finest eco-lodges. All with in suite facilities.
- Full board accommodations.
- All meals (excludes drinks).
- Bottled water during game drives and gorilla treks.
- All transfers from airport, hotels, lodges and tented camps.
- 3 Gorilla Trek permits.
- 4 Chimpanzee Trek permits.
- Membership in the Flying Doctors Program / East Africa.
- All applicable taxes.
Does not include:
- Airfare to and from Entebbe, Uganda.
- Passport and Uganda Entry Visa fee ($50 USD)
- Bottled drinks w/ meals.
- Items of personal nature, such as laundry, phone calls, alcoholic beverages, souvenirs, etc.
- Gratuities for local guide / trek porters / drivers.
A $2000 deposit is required at the time of enrollment with full payment due by April 1, 2027.

Deposits & Cancellation Policy:
A $2000 deposit is required at the time of enrollment with full payment due by April 1, 2027.
Deposits and tour/workshop fees are non-refundable.
If the photo workshop is full and someone from the waiting list can take your spot, your tuition is fully refundable minus a 15% cancellation fee.
We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons.
Should cancellation be required due to severe weather, an alternate date will be scheduled at no additional charges.
No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after the photo workshop begins.
We are not responsible for any fees associated with non-refundable air travel, we highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.
